To travel between the North and South Islands with your campervan or motorhome, you will need to take the ferry across the Cook Strait. There are several companies that operate the journey between Wellington and Picton on the three hour ride.
- Interislander: The ferry service operates three ships all equipped with a range of on-board services. More information and bookings can be found on the Interislander website at www.interislander.co.nz.
- Bluebridge: The ferry service includes private cabins, free movies and food for a comfortable ride across the Cook Strait. More information can be found on the Bluebridge site at www.bluebridge.co.nz.
Vehicle lengths
When you book online to reserve transportation on one of the ferry services, you will need to enter the vehicle length in for your campervan/motorhome. We have listed the lengths for all Pacific Horizon Motorhomes to enter with your booking
- SAM: 7.1 metres
- GEM 4 Berth: 6.8 metres
- 2+1 BB Motorhome: 5.9 metres
- 4 Berth: 5.8 metres
- 6 Berth: 6.5 metres
